January Contest - Celebrate a Harlequin Milestone

I personally purchased this book from Harlequin and think is will someday be a collectible so I would like to share it with one lucky January winner.

When you read the message from Harlequin's CEO she mentions "milestones".  To win a copy of this fun book from Harlequin 60th Anniversary, share a milestone in your life and please leave your contact email so that I can notify the winner.

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks so much for stopping by Romancing the Desert, Sheikh Books.

When a thoroughly "nice" girl is clever as well, let her less strongly armed sisters beware.

Phyllis Gordon was completely honest and very intelligent. Terry McLean was her first and only lover, and he really loved her. But Phyllis cared too much for him to marry him until she had rid herself of her unrequited passion for her millionaire employer, Kenyon Rutledge. Kenyon's fiancée, Letty Lawrence, was also well equipped with beauty and brains, and she had money besides.

Yet the arrival in town of Phyllis's little country cousin, Anice Mayhew, spelled danger for both Phyllis and Letty. For Anice was dewy-eyed, supersweet and diabolically innocent.

From Harlequin’s CEO About the Book:
Dear Reader,

Harlequin is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary in 2009 with an entire year's worth of special programs showcasing the talent and variety that have made us the world's leading romance publisher.

With this collection of vintage novels, we are thrilled to be able to journey with you to the roots of our success: six books that hark back to the very earliest days of our history, when the fare was decidedly adventurous, often mysterious and full of passion—1950s-style!

It is such fun to be able to present these works with their original text and cover art, which we hope both current readers and collectors of popular fiction will find entertaining.

Thank you for helping us to achieve and celebrate this milestone!

Duty, Desire and The Desert King - Jane Porter

Duty, Desire and the Desert King authored by Jane porter is an excellently executed story that pulls one into its magic from the beginning to end. It a wonderful holiday romance with a theme of love and the joy it brings to those who believe. It also emphasises that love can actually heal all.

Sheikh Jayed is one handsome and charismatic man who also carries guilt and believes he is the black sheep of his royal family. He believes himself to be cursed because of his past, and holds himself responsible for his love, his sisters, his father and now his missing brother. Now he must return home to the desert, marry and assume the responsibility of King.

Dr. Rou Tournell is a scientist who matches compatible people to marry. She is indebted to King Sharif Fehr who was her mentor and responsible for her successful career. She years earlier also met his handsome playboy brother Zayed, was attracted to him until she found out quite by accident that he found her dull and boring. And now, years later, he needs to her, he is demanding her help to immediately find him a wife because his brother’s plane has crashed in the desert and he is missing. Now Zayed must return home to take over as ruler, bring with him a wife.

Because of her love and respect for Sharif, Rou accompanies Zayed back to Saraq and agrees to find him a wife. When Zayed realizes that Rou is a challenge, beautiful, smart, intelligent and the perfect woman to become his wife, he’s relentless until she agrees. Brilliantly written, their love story is a dance of attraction, battle of wills and a sensual journey one won’t want to miss. It’s magical in the sense that their insecurities seem to diminish when they are together, at their engagement party, on their wedding night and on their honeymoon. However, the fact the King is still missing, royal duties and Rou’s insecurities due to her past as a child take it’s toll on their marriage and in the end, Rou returns back to North America and her career.

Fate brings them together again and a warm and beautiful healing in the form of a pregnancy neither expected, facing the reality of their love for each other and like the magic of Christmas a beautiful ending full of peace, love and joy.

For My US Family and Friends - HAPPY THANKSGIVING

We Gather Together

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

--Traditional Thanksgiving Hymn

Desert Prince, Blackmaileld Bride - Kim Lawrence

Gabby has a serious problem. She's in a foreign country and her brother has been jailed for drug trafficking. He's always had a problem with pretty women and he let one talk him into taking a stuffed animal with him on the plane and was arrested. As his sister, she feels responsible and pleads his case but is told nothing can be done. So she storms the King's palace to plead her case only to meet the handsome Prince Rafiq. Immediately, there is bantering and he realizes she is strong, fierce and would make a wonderful wife for his "weak" brother so he blackmails her into meeting his brother and hopefully marrying him in the end.

The sparks fly between Gabby and Rafiq and they both fight it all the way. What Gabby realizes about this proud man when he spills that he's dying that this country and its future are first and foremost for him, and he would sacrifice anything to make sure it's safe and stable, even at his own happiness. She also falls desperately in love with him and at every turn he fights his attraction until his kisses her and then everything changes for them both. However, it's always unspoken and at the back of everything.

Things get out of control when Gabby meets Rafiq's younger brother. He reminds her of her own and she actually likes him. But she makes one mistake, she tells him his brother's secret and then he leaves the country. Rafiq mistakes it for his lack of responsibility, but in the end, it's entirely something different. However, he's angry and then the most unexpected thing happens, Gabby comforts him and they make love.

Trust me, that's when the entire story changes but you'll have to read Desert Prince, Blackmailed Bride to see what happens to the virgin temptress and the proud, dying, honorable sheikh. One thing is for sure, the Prince and the Princess find equal ground, surprises and a happy ending which was brilliant as crafted by author Kim Lawrence.

Book Description:

Rafiq Al Kamil, heir to the desert kingdom of Zatara, thinks innocent Gabby will be the perfect convenient wife for his brother. But Gabby isn't as biddable as she seems…. Now Rafiq will have to persuade her!

Except the more time Rafiq spends with Gabby the more he wants her—in his own bed. But when he discovers she's a virgin, the earth collapses under his feet. Suddenly, having her as his mistress is not enough— Rafiq demands she become his bride!

THE SHEIKH'S FORBIDDEN VIRGIN - Kate Hewitt (The Royal House of Karedes)

Kate Hewitt takes her readers on an extremely romantic journey through the desert in The Sheikh’s Forbidden Virgin. While reading this exciting adventure, an adventure it surely was, I actually felt like I was in Zaraq, in its markets, the palace and in a desert storm. As for Calista where Princess Kalila is to be wed, the same applied, the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, riding in the desert with the sun beating down and fantasizing of being with a rugged sheikh. The author succeeded in giving me my fantasy and then some.

Kalila had known from a very young age that she would have to marry the future king of Calista. An arranged marriage by her father and Zakari’s father. She had just finished college in London and now she has to return home and to her duty. She mourns the fact that both of her parents married for love and she wants the same for herself. But duty prevails and she must go through with it. She hasn’t seen her future husband since she was twelve years old. Now this future king is due to come and claim her in Zaraq. However, he doesn’t come, he sends his brother Arif who is a very rugged, handsome and aloof prince.

Arif is the brother everyone looks to, the protector and an extremely honourable prince. One immediately senses the attraction between Arif and Kalila, a forbidden one because of course nothing can come of it because she is soon to become the wife of his brother. Arif holds a lot inside, has dreams of a horrible kidnapping which ended in the result of one of his brothers disappearing, never to be found. However, he adores his country and family and is determined to take Kalila home to his brother.

Kalila resists the marriage and escapes by horseback and rides off into a dust storm the day they are to leave. She is confused because first of all she hasn’t heard from her bridegroom and she’s attracted to Arif. Of course Arif follows and they have to spend the night in the desert in a tent. They act on their attraction and in the morning Arif is furious with himself. He can’t believe he has betrayed his brother and the burden is heavy on his heart. However, Kalila is pleased it’s happened even though she’s lost her virginity and is to marry the King. She feels it was precious and sacred.

Once in Calista, still no King, no message and Kalila is more confused. She is lonely and misses her time with Arif. It was such a sad time for them both and really a sad time for this reader because once you read this wonderful book you will be cheering them on and hoping to see them together. Each time they meet or go sightseeing, it’s a battle for them both not to look or touch, it’s heartbreaking.

Kate Hewitt is such a talented author and this sheikh book was a little different from others I’ve read because I felt I could actually live the fantasy. It’s such a sweet romance, even though their emotions for each other were a little rocky at times. The Sheikh’s Forbidden Virgin was a wonderful addition to The Royal House of Karedes series. The author recently stated in an interview “I liked how star-crossed my lovers were – their situation seemed truly hopeless, and yet love prevailed – of course”! Kate Hewitt more than succeed with her goal.

Book Description:

On her twenty-first birthday, Kalila is pledged to marry the King of Calista. But first she must be delivered to her husband-to-be. Scarred, sexy sheikh Prince Aarif, the king's brother, is sent to escort her. However, willful virgin Kalila tries to escape and Aarif has to catch her. In the desert heat his scorching desire for her ignites—a desire that is forbidden!—and Aarif claims Kalila's virginity, even though she can never be his!

When she walks up the aisle on the day of her wedding, Kalila's heart is in her mouth: who will be waiting at the altar to become her husband?

Secret Sheikh, Secret Baby was a very intense and sexy sheikh love story written by the very talented Carol Marinelli. It was also my first Harlequin Medical romance and I was very impressed that due to its nature it was not boring but very interesting as the heroine was a midwife and the hero a sheikh prince and surgeon.

They meet at an orientation in London where Felicity Anderson is attending in order to determine if she wants to accept a position already offered in the Middle East or accept a position in one of the most modern and beautiful hospitals located on a private island, ruled by a royal family the Kingdom of Zaraq. The royal prince and surgeon Prince Karim is overseeing the recruitment for his hospital and university.

Karim and Felicity meet in the most interesting way when he slips inside the presentation and immediately they sense each other, through site, smell, and sexual attraction. What’s so very bizarre is that Felicity has recently broken off with her boyfriend because of sexual problems and after a year, she cannot have a relationship, even though she has been through therapy. So, this immediate attraction to a stranger, a man who makes her feel things she’s never felt before are frightening yet exciting. As fate would have it, they are brought together after the conference due to an auto accident and then the fateful night they spend together before they both go their separate ways.

Karim is a man bound by honour to his King (his father), his brothers and his country. His first love is his profession as a surgeon but due to the illness of his father, he will be to any lengths to serve his country. He has also been a playboy but that is soon to end as his father wants him to marry and produce an heir since his brother’s wife is barren. However, he can’t seem to forget his one night with Felicity and wonders if he’ll ever see her again in his country.

Like Karim, Felicity has been honor bound to her mother and sister. She has accepted all financial responsibilities for her sister’s illness and her mother’s bills. She is determined to make a success of her life in Zaraq and when she finally gets there and starts orientation and later being a midwife, she realizes she has made the right decision. Only there are a few problems……upon arrival she finds out the man she spent the night with is a prince and heir to the throne, that she’s pregnant with his baby.

When Karim is told he’s the father of Felicity’s baby, his entire personality changes. He accuses her of lying, he put together a deceitful plan for the good of his brother and for his country, and he demands marriage and takes her into the desert. There in the desert, they learn quite a lot about each other and all Felicity wants is the man who she grew to love in London, the sensitive and caring man.

This royal family would do anything for their country, I mean anything and that was what I found so interesting, the difference in cultures and what lengths they would go to in order to keep peace and structure for their country and King. It was indeed a hurtful scheme which would hurt Felicity. Thanks to a friend she escapes and returns home. But Karim can’t escape and be at peace until he realizes what’s important in life and he doesn’t realize it until it’s almost too late.

The Secret Sheikh, Secret Baby was an excellent look into a royal family, the desert and its customs, the difference between the East and the West and most of all, forgiveness. It’s an intense love story, with intense characters, in a beautiful desert kingdom with lots of sexual tension as only Carol Marinelli can pen.

Book Description:

Hot-shot surgeon Karim Zaraq is prince of a desert kingdom. Karim knows he must find a wife and produce an heir, but this playboy wants one final fling before royal duty beckons.

Pretty midwife Felicity Anderson has no idea who Karim really is, but her one night with the sexy surgeon has turned her world upside down—suddenly she's pregnant!

With Felicity carrying the kingdom's hopes, Karim must marry her. But Felicity won't say "I do" unless the prince can prove it's for love.

The Sheik and the Bought Bride - Susan Mallery (Desert Rogue Series)

Author Susan Mallery in her dedication to her Editor thanks her for letting her “write the book of her heart”. Quite honestly I sincerely believe it was the very best in her entire Desert Rogue series and a perfect ending to her sheik series. For me personally it was bittersweet as for three years I’ve been enjoying the series immensely.

What makes these books so different from others in the sheik genre is the author. Susan’s humour always shines through in her stories, her heroines are NOT faint at heart, they are strong, spirited and intelligent women. Her sheiks are very proud and honourable. These men for the most part have been educated in England or the US as their father’s were Kings in their particular region, their mother had passed away or their father had remarried.

The Sheik and the Bought Bride opens with Victoria McCallan’s father cheating in a card game. When he is threatened he will be imprisoned, his daughter Victoria who works at the palace offers to take the place of her father. Before her mother died, she made her a promise that she would always look out for her dad. Victoria stands by her word, her promise and first and foremost she’s a very honourable woman. When it’s decided that she will become Sheik’ Kateb’s mistress in place of her father going to jail, for Kateb and Victoria their journey begins and just like the heat in the desert, it’s hot!

As the reader learns early on, Sheik Kateb is soon to become the ruler of his desert nation and he’s unmarried. At one time he married his childhood friend who died in an Italian car accident. He’s been single for five years and his people want him to eventually marry. One also learns that this man for the most part has dedicated himself to his people and now faced with this lovely woman who stirs needs he hasn’t felt in a long time, it becomes most interesting reading regarding the interaction between Kateb and Victoria. An example of this and the authors humour is shown in the following: “I’ve never had a mistress before so I don’t have any expectations.” She took the wine without looking at him. “You have a harem.” “It came with the property.” “Sort of like a three-car garage when you only have two cars?” “Something like that”. Obviously, I chuckled throughout the entire book.

Just one kiss for them and it’s all over for both of them. Kateb realizes he’s in trouble and wants to send her back to the palace but when he learns she might be pregnant, it’s determined she cannot leave. However, both of them ponder was there something more powerful or frightening for them both to face as far as their attraction? Kateb also learns a lot about Victoria and realizes she wants nothing for herself and she’s a very complex woman.

Victoria had learned at an early age to take care of herself. Being left alone in the harem she’s no shrinking violet she’s a woman who needs something to do and she takes an interest in the people, especially the women who make beautiful gold jewelry. Being a Western woman, she carefully treads but wants to take their jewelry worldwide and Kateb allows her to present him with a business plan. That’s not all Victoria does, she takes an interest in a child who has been left to live on the streets due to his father’s crime. She a woman who is passionate about life and love, a woman who has only experienced love at the hand of her mother, a woman afraid to love herself. Can you imagine for a woman like this who’s afraid to love, when she realizes that she indeed loves Kateb what this does to her?

It’s the same for sheik Kateb, he cared once for his wife and look what happened, he lost his friend and love. Victoria pulls him in a way no other woman has had the power, but he fights it every way he can. In the end, well let’s just say emotions run high and Kateb realizes he must send Victoria back to the United States but she’s doesn’t want to leave him. It’s an incredible journey, extremely emotional and dramatic ending and very fitting for Mallery’s readers and fans. For us you have loved The Desert Rogue series, The Sheik and the Bought Bride was a perfect last book. My personal thanks to Susan for many, many hours of reading enjoyment!

Book Description:

It was bad enough being hauled out of bed by palace guards. Now Victoria McCallan had just offered to pay off her father's gambling debts—with herself as the prize! So the palace secretary was shocked when sexy Prince Kateb made her a counteroffer….

When Kateb whisked Victoria off to the desert to be his mistress for six months, the widowed ruler had no intention of falling in love. But the outspoken Texas transplant was soon tempting him to change his royal ways. Duty decreed the El Deharia sheik should wed a proper mate, but Kateb's heart was telling him something else: to claim Victoria as his woman—now and forever.

October Contest

October is a wonderful month, Halloween, crisp air, beautiful colors, and for me a conference with exceptional authors and speakers attending.

It's also a bittersweet moment for me because the Desert Rogue series is coming to an end. I never in a million years would have thought I would read a "sheikh" book let alone have this blog. A friend gave me my first Susan Mallery book and the rest is history. I became aware of the genre and noticed that other authors I was reading wrote for the genre, well I was hooked!

In honor of the last Desert Rogue, my October contest is a copy of Susan Mallery's last book in her series. All you have to do is follow me on this blog and tell me who you are and your email address. In advance, thanks for the Follow.

SHEIKH'S BETRAYAL - Alexandra Sellers

First they were childhood friends and then lovers and then life changed for both of them. Desi became a model and sheikh Salah returned home to the desert and responsibility. Their love and passion consumed them both and then as all things happen in life, things fell apart due to a press release, pride and misunderstandings.

Now Desi is on a mission to help her closest friend Samiha obtain her greatest wish to marry the man she loves, not the arranged marriage her brothers want for her, to marry her distant cousin Salah. Desi’s plan is to seduce Salah no matter what cost to her heart and help her friend.

When she arrives in Khouri it’s under false pretenses as she’s requested to Salah’s father, that she’s interested in a “dig” and he can’t refuse her request because of the years Desi’s family befriended his son. However, she’s greated by Salah and he’s now a man she doesn’t recognize…..he’s a man she’s doesn’t even recognize but a man she’s here in his country to seduce and betray.

Their journey was very painful to read. It’s obvious from the moment they see each other again that they both haven’t put the past to rest and that they still want each other. It’s a very dangerous game, full of passion, lies and so many misunderstandings from the past which wasted ten years of happiness they could have enjoyed.

Alexandra Sellers definitely has a passion for the desert, the sheikh genre and when you read the Sheikh’s Betrayal you are emerged in the desert and culture from the beginning to end. This author is a master storyteller and takes deception and turns it around to a brilliant love story.

Book Description:

What had brought Desiree Drummond to his desert land? Sheikh Salah Al Khouri knew the celebrated beauty must have an ulterior motive…hadn't she always? He'd let her slip from his grasp once, but he wouldn't make the same mistake again. Before the week was out, she would be in his bed.

Desperation had driven Desi back into Salah's life. And though the man who looked at her with such cold eyes was so different from the one she remembered, her goal remained. She had to stop Salah's long-awaited arranged royal marriage…any way she could.

I had forgotten about 1st Choice (used) books and then I remembered when I wanted Susan Mallery's Desert Rogues collection, I was able to purchase the older books all in once place with only one charge for shipping and handling.

I also ordered some additional "sheikh" authors I've never read and can't wait for my order to arrive.

So if you're interested in collecting a series and paying only one shipping and handling, then here is the link. Just use "Fletch", type in sheikh books and have fun!

Delaney's Desert Sheikh - Brenda Jackson

For the past several years I’ve seen blog posts about Delaney’s Desert Sheikh so I was curious and went on Amazon. It was released in 2002 and now the paperback is selling used on amazon for $19.00. I contacted the author and here’s what she said:

DELANEY’S DESERT SHEIKH RETURNSI am so excited to announce the return of Book 1 of the Westmoreland series, which will kick off the re-release of all the others in regular book form. Thanks to Harlequin!!

But what is so special about Delaney’s book being released is that it will be included in a “2-books-in-1” edition titled, WRAPPED IN PLEASURE.

In addition to getting Delaney’s story, you will get another sheikh story that features Sheikh Rasheed Valdemon from the Madaris and Friends Series. You may recall

If you want an intense and a dominating sheikh who demands, commands and expects respect and obedience then The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girls is for you. In all of my years of reading the sheikh genre, never have I read such a book with a sheikh as bold as Kaliq.

One learns that Kaliq and Eleni met when he arrived at her father’s to play cards. Eleni’s father has her posing as his servant girl and looses his prize race horse to the sheikh which actually is Eleni’s horse whom she adores. When he looks into her beautiful green eyes and sees that she has a special way of dealing with horses, he takes her from her childhood home and brings her back to his palace as his stable girl. She fascinates him, especiallty her eyes and her innocence and he nicknames her “lizard”.

Sheik Kaliq is a very proud man and one who has a secret which torments him. His sweet stable girl for some reason brings out feelings in him and one day she notices his physical scars and questions how they came to be. Kaliq reveals that he and his brother years ago were held captive while watching their brother and he was swept out to sea and never found again, a secret he had never told to another woman. He then realizes he’s attracted to her and starts the seduction.

For Eleni, her life since her mother died has been a dismal one, waiting on her father and taking care of her horse have been her life. Now she’s living in the palace, working with horses, has a new wardrobe and a sheikh who tells hewr it’s her duty to be available for her sheikh. Starting with a slow seduction, she’s afraid yet intrigued. When he tells her he’s taking her to England, she’s overwhelmed. However, being the master seducer that he is, he tutors Eleni in the art of love. He also makes it very clear that he doesn’t “do permanent” and she’s determined to please him so much that should he leave her he’ll be hurt remembering their time together.

At times this was hard for me to read as I felt she was being taken advantage of yet sometimes her character surprised me with her strength and insight into her lover. In the end after this demanding sheikh realizes he’s blocked out emotion and he understands why. Somewhere along the way Eleni forced him to confront his deepest fears and when he realized that, the reader will forget how demanding and at times how cruel his remarks were to Eleni. All in all, I enjoyed The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl especially when I read about him coming to terms with his past and what Eleni had brought to their relationship.

Polo-playing sheikh Prince Kaliq Al'Farisi loves his women as much as his horses. They're wild, willing, and he's their master!

Stable girl Eleni is a local Calistan. Raised by her brutal father on the horse-racing circuit, she feels unlovable. When her precious horses are given to Sheikh Kaliq, she refuses to be parted from them.

The playboy sheikh is determined to bed Eleni—and when Kaliq realizes she's a virgin, the challenge only becomes more interesting….

The Dark Hearted Desert Men coming 2010

Here's a direct quote from Annie West's Newsletter. I'm so excited that there will be another sheikh series in 2010! Thanks Mills and Boon and Harlequin! xxoo

For those of you who enjoy sheikh stories, I can now tell you I’ve been working on a book for a new series called The Dark Hearted Desert Men. I’m thrilled to be working with talented authors Trish Morey, Carol Marinelli and Jennie Lucas on this linked continuity which will be on sale in 2010. My book, the final of the four, is called Scandal: His Majesty’s Love-Child. In this case, ‘His Majesty’ is a sheikh and reluctant king who’s bored with life until a certain dark haired beauty saves him, turning his world and his expectations upside down. I’m excited about this story and can’t wait to share it.

So if anyone knows the details on the series, please share......thanks!

They both had commitments and obligations and met in a most unusual way. Karim was a guest at a posh party and Lily was the caterer. They met quite by chance and the attraction was so immediate that they secretly kissed on a balcony. Would they ever see each other again? Yes, however quite by chance. Romantic and sensual would be two adjectives to describe Kate Hardy’s wonderful Surrender to the Playboy Sheikh.

Lily was a proud and brave woman and business lady who ran a catering firm who catered for the rich and famous. Now, quite by chance Sheikh Karim comes back into her life with a request for her to cater his important business meetings. She is so overbooked she says no but he’s persistent and she agrees. They are so drawn to each other and it is eminent they soon mix business with pleasure. However, they both make ground rules because this affair can only be that as Karim will in months to come have to return home to his country to be its ruler. As for Lily, because she was once burned by her ex-husband, she is dedicated to her business and career.

Karim, made a vow to his family and country that when his brother passed in a tragic accident he would one day become its ruler. He was schooled in London and gave up his academic dreams for his career. He’s also aware he must marry and produce an heir; a marriage arranged by his parents. Therefore, this passion he feels for Lily must be short lived. However, in the end, the tables are turned when he realizes he loves her.

As for Lily, she falls deep and hard for Karim but because of her past with her ex-husband and her devotion to her business she knows she must keep her feelings to herself and make the most of the time they will have together. This love story is so breathtaking and romantic you’ll want this for one of your summer reads!

Book Description:

Karim al-Hassan can have any woman he wants, and sexy little waitress Lily Finch has caught his eye. One glance leads to a searing kiss—and a hunger that Karim plans to satisfy with a temporary fling.

But Lily is actually more than just a waitress. Successful and career-focused, she is determined never to mix business with pleasure—until playboy Karim's slow seduction breaks down her resistance! Soon Karim is breaking his own rules: he wants Lily in his bed—forever!

Behind the Book, a direct quote from Author Kate Hardy:

"Surrender to the Playboy Sheikh, which is the first part of my To Tame a Playboy duo. I’d had a yen to write a sheikh for ages – and I’m thrilled that this is the very first Modern Heat sheikh. I’ve dedicated the book to lovely Liz Fielding, who writes wonderfully inspiring sheikhs (and who lent me a very good book as background – which I must return!! I know where it is on my shelf, though). Of course, being me, he’s not just a sheikh. His original job was really interesting. (Yup. He’s one of my nerdy scientists.) And I think that this cover might just be my favourite of all to date. It’s spot on for a scene in the book (you just have to imagine Vaughan Williams’ ‘Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis’ playing in the background)."

Casey Michaels he realizes almost immediately is innocent however she amazes him with her business sense. Life has taught him many lessons and duty to his country is the most important thing in his life. However, she charms him and he’s drawn to her and fights it every step of the way.

Casey Michaels is determined to prove herself and win not only the marketing job but earn the respect of her employer, the sheikh. She’s there to impress and impress she does when she takes on a charity auction, the proceeds to benefit the desert inhabitants. As she finally spends time in the desert, every thing heats up and not only the weather. Seeing Raffa in his own element with his people makes him more human, and not the playboy sheikh the press makes him out to be but a man of “simple tastes”.

Their love story was for the most part set in the desert, full of sensual tension until they make love and then everything becomes complicated for them both. Sadness like every journey takes place in the form of Casey realizing she must walk away only to have Raffa realize how important she was to him. Sheikh Boss, Hot Desert Nights was just a sweet and beautiful journey in finding happiness.

Behind the book from authors website:

"I couldn’t resist another visit into the desert to unravel the secrets that lie behind the silken veil. I took a younger sheikh for this romantic adventure- a ruthless bad boy on the cusp of greatness, and gave him a determined young woman to go head to head with- in business, and in bed.

It was great to see Casey Michaels growing in confidence and in understanding of a very different culture- not to mention learning how to handle this dark and dangerous alpha male.I had the best time writing the book and hope you enjoy your journey behind the silken veil…" S. Stephens

Kate Hewitt has yet again written a very intense and beautiful love wtory in The Sheikh’s Love-Child. It’s a wild as the desert and so intense at times one will find themselves holding their breath and want to pound some sense into both Sheikh Khaled and Lucy Banks.

Four years earlier the final blow was given to Sheikh Khaled, his knee was in shattered and at some time in his life he might be wheelchair bound so he leaves his beloved rugby team and his lover behind without a word to return to his country and the desert. It’s obvious reading about their past that their relationship was fast and furious and very intense and it’s also left behind a woman with a broken heart, one that never had a chance to tell him they had a son, not matter how hard she tried to reach him.

Now, Lucy Banks finds herself on a plane with the English rugby team as their physiotherapist flying to Khaled’s country Biryal for a rugby match. She not only has a responsibility to the team but to tell her ex-lover they have a son and is scarred to death to see and tell him about Sam.

He has changed…..he’s intense, brooding, angry and dark but he’s still has the power to hurt her. Their first initial meeting is horrible as he doesn’t give her the time of day. I promise anyone who reads this, prepare yourself because time after time one will definitely feel the pain they both inflict on each other. The only time they seem to agree is concerning their son and it was so sweet to read about their first meeting and watch this dark sheikh soften while around his son.

Like all love stories and especially this particular one, there are so many secrets and issues to get past, it becomes overwhelming at times. Sometimes the only way is to forge ahead and forgive and let the past go. Their attempt is to have a marriage of convenience for the sake of their son. But at what cost?

I can only say when they both finally come to terms with their past and I also mean abandonment issues, trust, they way they were raised and the way they can move forward, have a box of Kleenex on standby as it’s quite a spectacular ending as only Kate Hewitt can pen!

Book Description:

With butterflies fluttering in her stomach, Lucy Banks has arrived in the desert kingdom of Biryal—with a secret!

Seeing Sheikh Khaled—the man who once loved and left her—in his sumptuous royal palace, Lucy is blown away by his barbaric magnificence: he's king of the desert and his eyes are blacker and harder than before. He's not the man she once knew. She wants to run away from his overwhelming masculinity, but they're inextricably bound forever…for he is the father of her son.

The Desert King’s Bejewelled Bride.

Sabrina Philips has created an amazing and spectacular love story with The Desert King’s Bejewelled Bride. It is also her first sheikh book and I’m certainly hoping it’s not her last as it’s exceptional!

Seven years earlier Kaliq and Tamara met when she visited her father in Qwisar. Even though they were chaperoned by the King’s aide, they were attracted to each other. And Kaliq being duty bound even asked her to marry him and she refused. Though Tamara was attracted to him, one gets the impression she instantly fell in love and also realized he didn’t love her so she refused him and returned home to England.

Now seven years later Kaliq has discovered Tamara is a model and doesn’t think to highly of her occupation nor her but he still finds he’s attracted to her and hires her to take his people’s mind of his ailing father, the King. He brings her home to the desert to model the family jewels which were worn by his mother on her wedding day. However, what she doesn’t count on is her feelings of love for him all over again, for that very same honour and duty bound prince.

So when she puts herself and the jewels in danger and her fearless sheikh rescues her she realizes that theirs is a dangerous game and that she wants him very much. However, Kaliq doesn’t believe she is an innocent until the night they make love and he is shocked to the core. It’s obvious he’s not willing to let Tamara return home to England so he asks her to become his “fake” fiancĂ© and travel with him to visit his friend.

Tamara and Kaliq’s love story is breathtaking but like all love stories it’s not just the passion, it’s the secrets they are both keeping from each other because to tell them would make them both vulnerable, revealing too much of themselves. It’s also Kaliq’s problem with her being so independent and a model on top of secrets which cause him to mistrust her. What I loved the most was their few days spent together as a couple on Montez, just being together and getting to know each other.

When the King dies of a heart attack, and Kaliq literally cuts himself out of her life, she makes the decision to follow him because she loves him and gives him the gift of offering to marry him for the sake of his country which would also allow him to become the ruler of Qwisar. I adored Tamara’s courage, her strength, and when she finally realized just the sort of man her sheikh was she was determined to spend her life with him for the wrong reasons than not at all! If you love the sheikh genre, a hot and roller coaster and sexy romance, then The Desert King’s Bejewelled Bride is for you!

THE DESERT KING - Olivia Gates

Prince Kamal and the future King of Judar was the most ruthless brother of all in the final book in The Throne of Judar's miniseries. You'll just want to shake him for his lack of insight and anger when it came to a past affair with the lovely and fragile Aliyah. Seven years earlier they had been a couple and then the fierce and emotional break up when Kamal believed his lover to be a drug user and slut as he spat out to her, ending the relationship and leaving Aliyah in an emotional mess.

Now he needs Aliyah to marry him, become his queen while he rules two nations, one being her father's. For Aliyah she's an emotion mess, not only is her heart broken by the parents she believed she had, she now finds out that she has not only a new father but also a new mother and a sister. On top of everything the insults she receives from Kamal and the realization she must marry him to save both nations and in the end, after she bears him an heir, they will divorce. Can her heart bear anymore hurt?

This was an incredible ending for this miniseries with many lessons being learned in the end.....forgiveness, appreciation of each other, healing and miraculous love. The Desert King and The Throne of Judar minseries you won't want to miss written by the talented Olivia Gates.

Book Description:

Their farce of a marriage will save his kingdom. And in return for an heir, Kamal Aal Masood will give his new wife Aliyah anything—except the trust and intimacy she desperately wants.

When Kamal abruptly ended their blistering affair years ago, he vowed Aliyah would never ensnare him again. Only a fool allowed his actions to be ruled by his heart. And only a woman like Aliyah would dare to challenge a king in a passionate battle of wills.…

While this was not as intense as The Desert Lord’s Baby, it was a roller coaster of a romantic journey as only Olivia Gates can pen. Lies, secrets and an agenda always have a pay back for the person playing games and sheikh Shehab got what he deserved.

The neighboring country and King had a daughter he recently found out about and that was Farah Beaumont. You’ll love the very sweet and generous Farah yet you will cry for her as she’s so gullible to believe Shehab. She is whisked away and taunted by his sexy advances only to make her wait and when the waiting is over, it’s six weeks of playing house and she falls head over heals in love.

Shehab is next in line to rule his country but he must marry the King’s daughter Farah. He’s heard she has a reputation so he plans to court her under a different name and then marry her as planned by both nations. However, what he doesn’t count on if falling for her and he prolongs telling her the truth of his identify and the plan. However, when it becomes too late…….well you’ll just have to read the book yourself because it’s a real tear jerker.

I can wait for the final installment of this Throne of Judar series and I’m so pleased that I can say that author Olivia Gates is an auto buy for me as she’s an incredible author!

Book Description:

The future of Judar rests with Farah Beaumont, a foreigner who wants nothing to do with her heritage.
And to secure his country's peace, prince Shehab Aal Masood must make her his bride—by any means necessary.
Hiding his identity and sweeping Farah off her feet is a start. But the joyful, seemingly innocent Farah is nothing like he expects. And Shehab's calculated seduction soon becomes an affair too powerful to control….

May Contest is a copy of Tessa Radley's The Untamed Sheik. To win, post a comment about your favorite sheikh book or sheikh author and why. Please leave your email address to I can contact you.

Prince and sheikh Shafir is the middle son of the King and oh what a proud, stubborn and mistrusting alpha is he and all through the book one is just waiting to see "mud on his face", he's that arrogant. I loved him and couldn't wait for him to fall to his knees for beautiful and charming Megan.

As the book description states, family first. Shafir is very respectful to his father and is ery close to his two brothers. He is a man of the desert, and more at home there than in the city. He's been called home to assist the family in preventing their cousin Zara's wedding from becoming a diaster and scandal as her fiance has been linked to Megan and it's Shafir's task to keep Megan out of the city. The only way he knows is to kidnapp her and take her to his palace and home.

Megan Saxon is not only lovely she is spirited andd determined to have a romantic vacation in Daahara with a Frenchman she met and is extremly attracted to because he's given her reason to believe there could be more and for Megan she wants to fall in love. When Sharir bodily puts her into a limo, takes her cell and then into the desert, she is terrified.

In a way, this love story became a cat and mouse game and was so fun to read. I loved how their getting to know each other, the attraction which sizzled off the pages and in the end, understanding, trust and finally love. Your heart will melt when Sharir realizes Megan is trustworthy and you will laugh and cry with Megan as she gets to know and love this desert prince.

This was my first Tessa Radley romance and certainly will not be my last as she's an exception author.

Book Description:

Mr. April: Prince Shafir Al Dhahar, desert sheik
His Creed: Family…first, last, always
His Challenge: One obstinate foreign beauty

The wedding would go on. Prince Shafir would not let Megan Saxon steal away his cousin's groom-to-be. Stopping her by seduction seemed the easiest plan. He'd simply make Megan fall in love with another man—him.

But what would happen if the seducer found himself falling for a woman he couldn't—by royal rights—truly keep?

MAN OF THE MONTH: A royal sheik with an iron-clad destiny…until love changed the rules.

Please stop by on Romance Author Buzz for a chance to win Susan Mallery's latest release. If you're a lover of contemporary romance "sheikh" books then I highly suggest Susan's Desert Rogue series. It is my understanding that her very last "sheikh" book will be released this year. I'm extremly saddened because her sheikh stories are one of a kind.....sensual, funny, romantic and at times sad but always have a sincere lesson for her reader.

Enter to win her latest May release here

For those who adore medical romance, you'll love this book and if your a fan of contemporary romance and sheikh genre then you won't want to miss it.

Sheikh Kamid is unique and not like the normal alpha sheikh even though he is handsome, wealthy and a doctor. What made him special to me is even though he could possibly be the heir to the throne he is on a mission. One will learn that his father has not taken into consideration the state of his country and the needs of his people. Kam and his twin who are both physicians, by choice as the reader will learn, are determined to make amends. Instead of being stubborn and proud, this particular sheikh was attentive to Jenny's needs, thoughtful and very sexy indeed.

Jenny Stapelton is one beautiful, kind and caring doctor. She has reasons for leaving her home land due to loosing her husband and unborn child. Jenny puts herself into situations and travels to countries in need to heal. When she meets Kam, she is doctoring TB and ill refugees from a neighboring border who are in the throes of war.

Merrdeith Webber has written a great story but at times for me the medical terminology slowed me down a little. However, I honestly enjoyed this extremely refreshing sheikh book.

Book Description:

In the desert kingdom of Zaheer, Jenny Stapleton meets Kam, a man she thinks is a doctor. Though she's instantly attracted to him, her past makes her wary of getting involved—especially when she discovers he's actually Sheikh Kamid, doctor and heir to the throne of Zaheer!

Kam is struck by Jen's passion for his people—and the passion she arouses in him. Soon to be king, Kam needs a wife, and Jenny's the perfect candidate. Now he'll claim her as his convenient bride—and his queen!

Sheikh Hashim is one proud, handsome, rich sheikh who is obcessed with the lovely Sienna who he met as a young girl in London, When her secret was exposed by a royal aide he was furious and left you with a broken heart. Now he's back for revevnge and he will have her at any cost because he can and will!

Sienna is a lovely young woman who has years later made a name for herself in the meeting and event planner industry. She has been called to a meeting with an unknown person to plan an event in the English country for VIP guests. Unknown to her it's Sheikh Hashim, the love of her life who broke her heart and now she is faced with planning an event or he will ruin her.

In a way, this was a love hate relationship and Sienna is blackmailed into spending time with Hashim. In the end, she becomes his mistress because she cannot forget him. When it comes time for the end, it will break your heart. Throughout their relationship you can see them becoming comfortable with each other and watch Sienna's love grow. As for Hashim, the reader is somewhat left up in the air so the last few chapters are a wonderful read as one witnesses him ponder and soften but always, he is honor bound to his country.

Sharon Kendrick is a master in writing sheikh books and Exposed: The Sheikh's Mistress is no exeception plus it delivers a surprise ending!

Book Description:

Is Sheikh Hashim al Aswad back with Sienna Baker, the model he nearly married? As the respected ruler of a desert kingdom, Hashim can only marry a suitable bride of impeccable virtue. But does Hashim know the truth behind Sienna's scandal?

Why it's taken me so long to read an Olivia Gates book I'm not sure but never again will I wait as this writer has talent beyond description. This Silhouette Desire from the Throne of Judar series was one of the most passionate and truly dazzling love story I've read in a long time.

From the very first chapter you realize Carmen and Sheikh Farooq have a very intense relationship which in every way intimacy binds them together. Farooq cannot get enough of Carmen but she's no fool because she realizes she only has weeks with this desert prince for he will leave her and return to Jadar without her. Then she realizes she's expecting a baby and in order to run and hide from him, breaks up with him leading him to believe she's over him.

The months that pass are agonizing for them both. Carmen is feeling safe now that 9 months have passed and Forooq has not found her. Then everything changes and he finds out that he has a daughter and is determined to take mother and child back to Jadar. Farooq also has been led to believe that Carmen betrayed him so add many emotions to the mix; intense desire, anger, lust and turmoil.

Prepare yourself for a very intense read with intimacies revealed which will take your breath away. For Carmen and Farooq their passion steams off the pages and the ending will have you weeping for sure as Olivia Gates delivers her brilliant tale of passion, forgiveness and true love.

Book Description:

There was nowhere Carmen could hide from this prince of Judar. No stone he wouldn't turn to find her, no wall he couldn't tear down. Nothing would stop Farooq Aal Masood from claiming the mother of his baby. She had betrayed him. And she would pay. In his bed. As his wife...until he tired of her. And though Carmen professed to love him, that it was all a misunderstanding, well...Farooq would never fall for her lies again

Sheik Karim Adbullah is called the “Dark Sheik” and it’s no wonder, not just his physical appearance which include multiple scars, a facial scar on his eye which had made him blind and additional scars mainly on his back. His identical twin has been intentionally killed and now he finds that he’s not only faced with finding his killer; plus a woman his brother met in he US claims his twin is the father of her unborn child.

Everything within days change; the pregnancy, his attraction to her, finding his brother’s killer and now his enemies want the woman and Karim dead.

Their journey is full of action, turmoil, danger, sexual attraction and mystery. On top of everything else, coupled with the danger, their attraction leaps off of the pages of this book and just reading about the “dark sheikh” softening and falling for Julia is very sweet and romantic.

What I loved about this particular sheikh story was it was honour bound not just Karim the born sheikh but the lovely Julia who was abandoned at a young age, raised in foster care and who had a definite need to belong. In the end, her sense of honour shines in this very lovely romantic love story. Again Dana Marton “dazzles” her readers with her Sheik Protector.

Book Description:

Proud, imperious and leery of pretenders to the throne, Sheik Karim Abdullah saw Julia Gardner as just another gold digger. The American claimed to be carrying his dead twin's child, so the Dark Sheik decreed she remain his palace "guest" until paternity was established.

But the rebellious Julia proved as dangerous to Karim as the assassins stalking him. Her fi erce need to safeguard her baby turned the sheik into a protective lover. And the wounded warrior vowed to savor the moment…then walk away before he jeopardized her safety.…

Dana Marton is an extremely talented author and her “sheikh” book is sensual, full of intrigue and mystery, passion and about second chances.

The title Desert Ice Daddy, I really didn’t understand the title of the book until the end but that’s not the author’s fault. As we all know the author for the most part doesn’t have a say in the cover nor title of her book.

This billionaire Sheikh Akeem Abduil is one complex man. He’s part of his US Texas University “Aggie Four”, dedicated to his past college friends and his business. He’s always been in loved with his best friend’s sister. He’s very complex, born of a US mother and a “sheikh” and has had experience in the desert at the hand of his grandfather. He’s learned to be a warrior but also is an honor bound business man and friend. His biggest challenge is about to happen when he learns that his closest friend and the woman he always has loved needs him. Now Taylor McKade needs everyone’s help because her son as been kidnapped and is being held for ransom.

While this could be the typical romance/suspense it not…’s action packed, intense but what really struck a chord with me was the unconditional trust which happened between Akeem and Taylor. In desperate times they only had each other and their journey will take your breath away, how they come to terms with the past, the now and the future. Simply, it’s beautiful!

Book Description:

Billionaire Akeem Abdul's arrival at the McKade ranch went from business to personal when he learned Taylor McKade's little boy had disappeared. Taylor had only become more beautiful over the years, and Akeem couldn't stand seeing the pain on her face. As they followed the kidnappers' orders and trekked through the Texas heat, Akeem admired the strength it took for Taylor not to fall apart. But he was there when she did—and vowed to bring her son home. Still, all the money in the world couldn't eliminate his secret fears: that if they didn't find her son, this woman he'd finally found again could be lost to him forever….

THE SHEIKHS AND DESERT LOVE HAS A NEW LOOK! Check it out, I love this site here.

As the author Kim Lawrence and Sheikh Tair describe Molly James as “Miss Mouse” she’s far from that especially when she finds herself at the mercy of the very proud and determined Tair.

Molly James has left England and has come to a strange land to get to know her half brothers. Her mother has since passed but married the King only to divorce and leave behind her two sons. Now Molly is a guest of the King’s but they have decided not to mention the fact they are related.

Sheik Tair is a proud and determined man and the heir to the throne of his country. He is also a guest of the King, his Uncle and misunderstands the relationship of Molly and his friend Tariq. Because he cares deeply for Tariq and his wife Beatrice, he is determined not to let the little mouse undermine their marriage so he kidnaps Molly and takes her to the desert. He fights his attraction for Molly but in the end, makes love to her which sets off a chain of reactions from her brothers and the King.

Molly James considers herself plain in comparison to her step sisters and her friend Beatrice. She has always lived in the shadows and now she is faced with the challenge of surviving in the desert with an incredibly handsome man. What she doesn’t realize is how attracted Tair is to her, that he doesn’t find her the “little mouse”. He desires her, and her vulnerability touches him in a way that no other woman has touched him.

As all sheiks, he feels honor bound because he has taken Molly’s virginity and is duty bound to marry her. But Molly is sensible and realizes he doesn’t love her, she refuses and returns to England with a secret.

You will love this sheikh story, full of passion and romance in the desert. But when this sheikh is brought to his knees by Miss Molly, you will cheer right along with her family!

This was an extremely entertaining and romantic love story taking place in England at a castle and also in the Amrah Desert Kingdom.

One’s first impression of Sheikh Rashid is he has it all, wealth, power, looks and can any woman he wants. But as one gets to know his character, he is so much more; he’s devoted to his kingdom, his brother and sister and aches to see his father before he dies. He’s also out for revenge as an English Duke has sold him a stud which can not produce and has taken his money and Rashid vows to get even.

Polly you will adore. She’s sweet, caring, devoted to her mother and Shelton Castle. She’s determined to take care of her wheelchair bound mother, the castle her stepbrother is about to ruin and live up to the expectations her stepfather had for his heirs. Now she’s been offered the opportunity to travel to Amrah and film a documentary about her great grand mother and have the adventure of her life.

It’s immediate attraction for Polly when she sees Rashid; he absolutely takes her breath away. She is overwhelmed by him so when he takes an interest in her she believes it to be sincere. However, for Rashid he needs to make sure Polly is not involved in her step brother’s deception so he is wary but he cannot deny his physical attraction for her. On top of everything else, his father is dying and does not want to see him plus there are security issues in his country because a new sheikh will be declared upon the death of his father. For Rashid his country means everything to him and he knows once Polly finds out he is going to ruin her stepbrother and possibly loose the castle, there can be no relationship.

Cinderella and the Sheikh is truly a Cinderella story set in the romantic desert full of mystery with the hope for the future for both Polly and Rashid.
